GBV Emergency Response and Preparedness (ERP) model

The IRC Women’s Protection and Empowerment Unit developed the GBV Emergency Response and Preparedness Toolkit to help humanitarian aid workers lead action that facilitates the healing of survivors and fosters environments in which women and girls are safe.

GBV Emergency Preparedness

These emergency preparedness tools are designed to help GBV practitioners plan in advance of emergencies. GBV emergency preparedness requires organizational commitment and investment. It goes beyond addressing single discrete events  and entails a focus on capacity-sharingso that GBV actors are equipped to respond effectively to the urgent needs of women and girls when crises arise.

GBV Emergency Assessments

GBV-specific assessment tools are intended to be adapted to local contexts. Questions of safety, access, staff capacity and service availability need to be considered in relation to the specifics and variables of each locality. The GBV Emergency Response Program Model

The GBV Emergency Response Program Model is intended to guide emergency response program design in acute crises (typically during the first 12 weeks of intervention). This tool outlines the concrete actions necessary to minimize risks to women and girls and ensure that GBV-specific services are available and accessible. It also highlights strategies related to coordination and advocacy with the goal of improving GBV response and mobilizing necessary action in other sectors. There is also a version of the Program Model with suggested indicators. These are indicators that GBV actors have found meaningful and measurable.
